
Hanna Muehlenhoff is an Assistant Professor of European Studies with a focus on ‘Europe in the World’ at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
Her research is on security, militarism and human rights promotion. Her work has focused on the European Union, Turkey and the Netherlands and engages with feminist, queer, postcolonial and Foucauldian perspectives. She is particularly interested in affective dynamics in the field of security and military policies.
She is elected co-chair of the Council of European Studies Gender and Sexuality Research Network. Her monograph EU Democracy Promotion and Governmentality: Turkey and Beyond (2019) was published with Routledge. She co-edited a special issue on gender in EU external relations for Political Studies Review (2020). Her work has appeared in Politics, the International Feminist Journal of Politics, and elsewhere.
