“We are not thinking citizens that feel, but feeling citizens that think,”
At a time when liberal democracy is being challenged, understanding the role that emotions play in policy making, and how to better involve “feeling citizens” to contribute to the common good is more vital than ever.
In two-half day sessions, we bring together academics, experts, practitioners, and citizens to co-construct answers to and learn about the following questions:
MORNING
- When and why do emotions matter in politics?
- How do emotions shape politics and policymaking?
- How might policy makers better take into account collective emotions to inform policy making?
AFTERNOON
- Can we expect emotional transformation to take place?
- What democratic innovations can foster constructive emotions and trust
- How to encourage emotion-sensitive listening from policy makers’ perspective?
- What are policy makers prepared to implement?
